On Tuesday afternoon, Sang Lan, a former member of the Chinese national gymnastics team, showed up in the Media Center of the Shunyi Olympic Aquatic Park. As a specially-invited journalist of the Official Website of the Chinese Olympic Committee who is to cover the upcoming "Good Luck Beijing" World Rowing Junior Championships, Sang Lan could not conceal her nervousness in her debut in a major world tournament. In her words, she felt more tension than the excitement.
At about 16:00p.m., the Media Center got a little "disturbed" when Sang Lan entered in a wheel chair. She looked excited in front of the camera, and talked frankly about her feelings about being a stringer in a sports event for the first time in her life. "I used to participate in a competition as an athlete, but now I'm wearing an ID for the press. I feel excited and nervous about what I've going to do, and I've come here to learn from you all."
Sang Lan, who unfortunately got seriously injured during the 1997 Goodwill Games held in the United States, has never stopped pursuing her dreams of coming back to the sports world. The dauntless spirit she has shown in fighting against her injury has set a fine example to all Chinese athletes.
"This is the first job I've found since my graduation from Peking University," she joked with her colleagues in the Media Center, "so I cherish it and will try my best to work hard."
